Dear Parents,

UPCOMING DATES:

Thur. & Tues, Oct. 21 & 26   Parent/Teacher Conferences, 4:00 – 8:00 pm
Thur. & Fri., Oct. 28 & 29      Fall Break – No school

Volunteers:
Thank you to all of you who have expressed an interest in volunteering in the classroom.  We have many people who would like to volunteer, so I will put up a calendar outside the classroom.  Please feel free to sign up for a time/s.  If it is easier to e-mail me I will add your time to the calendar that way.

Editing:
Last week editing checklists went home in the students’ folders.  These are the editing lists we use in the classroom at the end of Writers’ Workshop.  These lists can be helpful for the students to use at the end of their homework writing and can count as a part of their writing time.

Grading:
The Denver Public Schools uses a standards-based grading system.  Students will receive grades based on how they meet 2nd & 3rd grade standards.
    4     Exceeds the Standard
    3     Meets the Standard
    2     Partially Proficient
    1     Not Meeting the Standard   

Toys at School:
Students should not be bringing any type of stuffed animal or toy to school.  Sports equipment and other items they play with at recess time are to be kept in their backpacks until recess time.

Class Address List:
The class address list is going home today.  Please double check your specific details and e-mail Sian Miletich or me with any corrections or changes.  A final copy will be sent home next week.  Thank you Sian for pulling this information together!
